Default Emergency brake problems

ok, not sure if this is under the right heading, but anyway...i've had my emergency brake to do strange things 3 or 4 times, such as, when I pull up the brake, it makes a noise & goes up further than it should (at least further than normal) - it gives you the impression that it has broken - then after you release it and pull it up again, it's back to normal. Another fellow Trans-AM owner I has know has had the same problem. Any suggestions?

I have had the same thing happen now and then. The emergency brake handle has a self tensioning mechanism to keep the cable snug. I was told that every once and a while, when the brake lining on the e-brake wears or the cable stretches a little, the mechanism has too reset its self. That’s what the CLICK BANG CRACK etc....stuff is.....still scares the crap out of me when it happens but after I breath a few times I remember to just let the handle down (allowing it to reset), and then reapply (all is good for a few more months).

I had that happen on my 02 Z28 after I had it for about 6 months. Took it back to the dealer and complained. They said they were aware of the problem and they too said that it was the tensioner slipping. At least I feel better that they weren't trying to blow smoke in my face about it.
