Looking For Better Steering Pump & Rack
Looking For Better Steering Pump & Rack I am looking for a better steering pump, something modified for heavier use and heat. I am also looking for a better rack and pinion with a faster ratio. I can't stand the one I have, it's a little stiff, and I don't think it turns fast enough for my liking. I would like a bit more assist. Does anybody know how to modify these, or are there any places that specialize in this stuff. What are their costs? Thanks
Re: Looking For Better Steering Pump & Rack Most modified pumps seem to lessen assist. Check www.lingenfelter.com, they carry a pump for the ASA stock car series that I have considered as a replacement for mine (and an upgraded pulley as well). Good luck.

Pump and new pulley is about 250$.
As for dealing with heat:
Install a heat exchanger for the PS system
Install a UD crank pulley
Install the aforementioned pump
