Shock stuck in upper mount

Shock stuck in upper mount I'm in the process of changing out my front shocks to hal shocks and springs. One of the shocks is stuck in the upper mount and I can't get it to budge. Any tips or should I just buy a new upper mount? Any ideas on pricing? Thanks
Re: Shock stuck in upper mount when i changed mine i had the decarbons then with a metal cutter we cut off the top part of the strut, the rubber boot came off then the spring came out along with the shock, you might as well try to cut that little stud off so the rest will pop out, you will not need those shocks anyway since you are replacing them

Re: Shock stuck in upper mount I've already cut the shaft of the shock. The upper mount has a metal collar that the shock shaft slides through....they appear to be seized together. I've beat it with a sledge hammer and it still won't budge.
Re: Shock stuck in upper mount make sure you soak that in wd40 where my stud was cut the rest is black but i think it was plastic the grinder cut through it too but if you do that you can another one from a junkyard , id just keep grinding through all that **** other that the strut support which is the top whole piece all other parts you can replace, so grind through it all and bang it out hope that helps
