Subframes: Should the weld points be on the frame?

Subframes: Should the weld points be on the frame? Well, the mod bug has hit, so I figure sfc's should be one of the first things I do. I believe I remember reading that not all of the sfc's for our cars actually connect frame to frame... Any reason why? Does it make a difference? Which (if any) do connect frame to frame?
Re: Subframes: Should the weld points be on the frame? My SLP's weld to the frame. Watch the type that weld to the floorpan sheetmetal (and not the subframes)...it can crack and is not a "solid" mounting point. I'm not sure which connectors connect where....but the SLP's work great.
