Default Install advice

Tomorrow I am finally installing my front bilsteins, slp/eibach springs all around, and drilled/slotted rotors and ebc green stuff pads on my car. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me before I start. I am renting some spring compressors and i have 4 jackstands and a breaker bar to get the wheels off and torx bits. Any other tools I will need?? I am gonna use the ls1howto.com writeup and I already have an adjustable panhard bar on the car and im gonna get an alignment done after the install. The brakes and pads are used so they are already broken in. Any other advice/tips???

Bleed the brakes when you're done installing. Use plenty of brake cleaner. You can take the brakes off first then take apart the front spindle, it will save some time. Be very careful with the compressors, if possible use an electric impact gun to compress. If you're doing the compressors by hand know that it will take quite some time. NEVER put your face over the top (or bottom) of the spring while compressed. Of course you need 15mm, 10mm (others too), open end wrenches etc. and a good torque wrench.

I just finished this install today on my 98 SS. I used only basic hand tools. Heres a couple of tips you do not have to remove the master cylinder to get the driver side upper shock mounts out just take it loose from the brake booster an push it to the side an this should yeild enough clearence. Take the front shocks to a trained professional they can do it much quicker an saftey is first those things can kill you. I had mine done at the local chevy place took about one hour an cost $30 bucks. What ever you decide good luck!

What exactly did you install, and what kind of time did it take? Are you happy with the results? I'm about to do a spring/strut replacement myself and can't seem to decide on what I want. I have the tools and ability to do it, just wondering about the results.

It took me a few days but I was waiting on parts an only working on it a little every day. I installed revavled Bilstiens an the Pro kit with my new 18' ZO6 chrome wheels. I love the new stance an the improved handling of the car. I was doubting your ability to do the job don't think that all I was saying is for time an safety sake it is better to let a shop do it thats all. When I get it cleaned back up I will post sime pics.

I started on the install yesterday and only had troubles with one of the bolts holding the master brake cylinder on(had to move it to get to the torx bit), and one of the back hex bolts o nthe passengers side. Anyways, I got everything out of there and I couldnt get the nut on top of the strut off because it had rusted in place. I had compressed the spring completely, but i dont have air tools or anything so it wouldnt budge, no biggie as i was gonna take the new struts to get mounted at a shop anyways. Heres where it turns bad, the package with my springs finally arrives and to my suprise there are only 3 springs in there, 1 front and 2 rears. Evidently from the ups store the seller dropped the item off at to my house they lost a front spring. I already spoke with the seller who is a member on here and he has a receipt saying that he shipped 4 springs and is going out of his way to resolve this situation so i give him all the credit in the world for doing that. For now I'm gonna finish the brake swap and just reassemble everything so I can drive the car since its my dd right now. Hopefully since I got all the old stuff out already, next time I go to remove everything it wont be so hard to get the nuts and bolts loose. The ups people said they will be conducting an "investigation" and if they dont find the missing spring they will cut me a check for some new ones, but what should I do in the mean time?? Should I call my local ups hub and ask them if the delivery truck reported anything left on the truck or if they found anything at the hub?? Not sure what to do and wanna get this issue resolved. Sorry for the long post, but ive been stressed out over all of this.

Patience is a virtue when it comes to UPS AFTER the facr. Wait and see what they come up with.
