Default Autozone Rotors?

I went to Autozone to price some rotors. I read here on LS1TECH that the Aimco brand were decent replacements. My question is, do those of you who have the Aimco rotors have the "extreme" rotors?

They only had the extreme rotors for the front and were unavailable for the rear. Does anyone know what the difference is between the regular and the extreme? Would it be wise to put the extreme rotors up front and the regular rotors in the rear?

I am thinking about the Hawk high perf. brake pads, where is a good place to get them? <img border="0" alt="[USA]" title="" src="graemlins/patriot.gif" /> Thanks guys!!!

I believe the extreme rotors are cross drilled and slotted and the regular rotors are not. That is why the extreme rotors are directional and are recommended to be purchased in pairs. The extreme rotors are almost 3 times more expensive too. Autozone may not sell rear extreme rotors because most of the breaking occurs in the front where the venting effects of the slots and drilled holes are needed more. I don't see why you couldn't have extreme's in the front and regular's in the rear. I guess it's a matter of personal preference/appearance. I think I found a pic of what the extreme rotors look like in this link...just click on "Drums & Rotors" and then the red star at the bottom of the page...

AIMCO Extreme

I don't have the extreme's so I can't do any vouching. And I'm sure one of our sponsers carries the pads you need.

Several of us use the regular Autozone blanks for track use. They hold up well to the abuse.
