I'm wondering the same thing. Need to buy some new springs, and am wondering if it's worth the extra money to go C/O in the back.

Hmm, no pics, but I'm currently using Afcoil 5x8x300 (bling!) yellow race springs in the rear, sitting on Allstar 56119 weight-jackers. Effectively it looks like the pictures in these links (courtesy of Jon Aadland), except I left the upper spring mount installed. The first pic is comparing his used Ground Control setup to the new setup.

Springs are a bit stiffer in the rear because we've both lowered our PHB. What condition are you trying to solve by using coilovers? I would say they're not worth the coin or time unless you know you'll need to use the adjustability, setting corner weights, etc.

no problem's with my car, just wondering if they work and if there's any weight savings to be had..what you have is not what i saw which was a coilover shock and spring together mounted right to the rear end like a pro street car with a 4 link or ladder bar set-up..saw a few kits on e-bay in 500.00 plus price range..thanks

I'd like to get those QA-1's. have a nice low stance at the track then pop it up a tad on the street. Probably come in handy for a car with a body kit or big exhaust tubing.

Is there a specific reason why you need the spring right over the shock in the rear? Even though my rear springs are coiled over the shock, I have tried what Jim and several other AX and RRer's have, and it works the same (probably better since the spring is perched in the factory location that was designed for the spring placement).

AFA the weight savings, they were lighter for about 1 pound for what is shown above, which is mostly due to the different spring used.

I would imagine he wants the ride height adjustability, as would anyone looking at Coil-Overs.

Look at the pics that Jim posted again and reread what chevysol mentioned in his post that's previous to mine. Both have adjustibility. What I was mentioning was the fact that having the spring over the shock will not make a seriously significant difference for what he's looking for. As a matter of fact, lot's of the guys at FRRAX prefer the Allstar adjustible spring perch than actually having the coil fitted over the shock, especially since space fitting and mounting angle issues can be encountered with a rear coil-over design.
