E-Brake not realy work'in

Hey all.

My E-Brake is no longer working very well.

1. I have to pull it ALL THE WAY up for it to catch
2. It won't hold the car still if the car is facing down a slope (any slope, even when you think your flat). It will kind of hold it if it is facing up a slope.

before I start tearing stuff appart, any sugguestions?

The park brake is a self adjust unit meaning it is supposed to remove any slack from the cables itself. There is a spring on the side of the lever that puts the pretension on the cables. I would check this spring to assure it is functioning properly. If you are not holding until almost full travel something is too loose in the system. The other thing to check is the fit of the park brake shoes (inside the rear rotor hat portion). If there is too much gap it will cause your lever to need to be applied more.

Pull the Rear Discs out and check look for the adjustment wheel. You prolly need to adjust them. IF you search someone here just recently gave very clear instructions on how to.

Its really a PITA thoo to adjust them.!

good luck
