Default spring ride?

ok, i know this is vague and widely opinioned, but which springs provide the best all around, being that they ride ok and and handle good w/o problems... im looking to lower the car an inch/ inch and a half tops to tuck the stock 16 chromes better, but eventually the car will have 17's or possibly 18's...

Shocks have the most impact on ride quality. If you run lowering springs on stock shocks, you will probably not be pleased with the ride (if that was the actual question...."which springs ride ok with stock shocks?").

If you're buying something like Koni SA's, you have a fair amount of room to use whatever springs you'd like (within reason, but most off the shelf lowering kits will be fine.....except the sportlines).
