Default SFC C-Channel design?

I searched but haven't seen anybody say anytthing about a piece of c channel metal welded to the location where people are putting sfc's. You are basically welding a piece of metal in the designated spots to prevent flex. Wouldn't putting a bigger low profile piece of metal there serve the same purpose. We have a warehouse here and I can pick up a huge piece of c channel iron cut to length for $15-20 a piece at the desired length. These things sure don't look like they would bend and they are the same weight or less. The c channel I wanna say is almost 1/2" in the channel part. Just a thought?

You want to reduce torsional bending (twisting) of the chassis. A C channel is strong in bending but weak in torsion. It's probably the worst choice for SFC's of anything I can think of.

It's probably not worth adding the extra weight to your vehicle for the minimal (if any) gains.

You'd want it to be tubular or boxed, not open on one side like a C channel (that's the problem with the C channel idea).

Theres a reason that when people are restoring old cars with the "C" style frames that they always box them. Just like the above said. To prevent twisting.

You could make your own out of that boxed steel....but sfc's are cheap enough and making your own would be a big enough hassle that i would just buy them from somewhere and weld them in, screw making your own, its not worth it in my opinion
