Default New Here. Please help. Long time reader, first time thread starter!

1998 Trans Am: I am trying to locate a 10.9 grade strut mounting bolt which mounts the base of the strut (front coil over) to the A-Arm on my passenger side. Driver side went fine however, I seemed to have crossed threaded or basically worn out the threads on my stock bolt tryng to get it through my new strut mount holes from underneath the a-arm. Trying to line those up are a pain because the base of the strut is not angled properly for easy mounting to a-arm. Even trying to pry with a screwdriver did not angle them very much. PLEASE HELP!. Pontiac is a joke and local hardware stores, home depot etc. basically laugh when I asked for 10.9 grade metric bolt. Can I get away with an 8.8 grade?

Thank you.

Jump in the frickas ... don't be shy ...

Take a bolt with you to a hardware store that sells Grade 8 SAE bolts and nuts. Find a size that is close to size and length and replace all 4 with something more off-the-shelf.

It's just a bolt ...

I know. I already did that. I'm a nut job. It's suspension and suspension takes a beating. Thanks for your reply.

You realize that Grade 8 in metric does not equal grade 8.8 in metric, right?

SAE G8 is grade 12 something in metric ... I think ...

I thought grade 8 SAE was closer to grade 10.9 metric? Bah...either way.

Probably so ... I just know they aren't the same.
