Default strut question

My wife has a Dodge Stratus R/T. We were getting tires put on yesterday, and the guy at the shop said we need to replace the struts because of the way the tire is wearing. The tire has bald spots randomly in the center of the tire. It was just on the driver's side rear tire. The only information I can find on tires wearing in the center is due to over inflation. The wear is not constant around the tire. I just want to make sure that this is the reason the tire is wearing before we spend the money to replace the struts. Thanks.

sounds like he is on the right track..the random bald spots are from a weak or worn out strut that has a [bad spot] , that only hit's the tire in certain spots...just as you said over -inflation would cover the whole center of the tire not just in certain spot's.good luck
