question about rotors texture

Default question about rotors texture

my rotors have like a small bumpy texture on the face of them and my brakes squeel. do my rotors need to be cut or do i need new ones or something ? thanks.

I am assuming you have stock rotors...the texture you speak of is normal with factory quality rotors and calipers, and happens because of uneven pressure over the rotor surface by the pad. However, if it is very pronounced, you should definitely have them turned or "cut"(something you should have done every time you change your brake pads). If you are not noticing any kind of decrease in braking performance I would not worry about it too much. It can be caused by any number of things, including warped rotors, unbalanced or improperly tightened wheels, type of brake pad, and most importantly your style of braking. It will never go away completely with OEM-type rotors but proper brake pad/rotor replacement and proper break-in procedure can cut down on this quite a bit
