Default clunk from rear

Alright, I have a 93 Z28 that is pretty much stock......

Right now when I hit a bump, I can here a squeaky clunk from the rear. Sounds like something is binding when the rear end has to move in relation to the car.

I have a UMI DA panhardd rod I am going to beinstalling soon, what should I look at in terms of whatever is binding? I figured I might as well get UMI lca's and relo bracket to help with launching, since it pretty easy to loose traction stock.

Should I check anything else? I dont have the dough or time to replace the shocks right now, that might come later this summer.........

I would tighten the panhard bar bolts up more. Do you have the spare tire? That makes noises sometimes.

spare tire was removed.....

I'll be getting LCA and LCA relo brackets in the mail soon, so as soon as I can install them, I will get my panhard rod installed as well and see if the clunk goes away.

I am making the guess that the LCA's have to be installed with no load on the suspension, correct?

You can install the LCA's with little or no load and hand tighten the bolts and nut. But when torquing you must have the suspension loaded.

Regarding the noise, put the car on ramps and have a buddy push down on the rear while you are under the car so you can pinpoint the noise.

I had the same problem. Ended up being my rear sway bar bushings. Changed those out with polys and no more squeak/clunk. Check your bushings. Mine were shot after 50000

Basically what I was going to say... Check all the bushings. If everything is old, and never replaced, I can gaurantee you that all the bushings are in need of replacement. Sway bar bushings, end links, shock bushings, LCA bushings, panhard bar bushings...they can all cause noise while cycling the rear suspension. Also check the panhard bar brace bolts make sure they are tight.

Sounds like you are on the right track..just gotta investigate some.
