Default ECB brake question, Ebrake support brakets

Purchased a 02 Camaro Which had a broken rear end (third member housing was broke where the axle tubes tie in) Found another rear end but had to convert it to a non traction control style. I got everything assembled and I was putting on some EBC pads, and after reading the installation instructions I'm a bit confused.

"These brake pads are not fitted with original anti rattle shims, Please do not attempt to fit shims from worn pads onto these units which will cause an over-thickness situation resulting in pad drag".

Does this mean not to use the old shims, use new shims, or don't install anti-rattle shims?

I have already installed them on one side and there doesn't appear to be any problems with binding, theres still some play.

Also I've forgot were the emergency brake cable support bracket goes on the right side.
