Re: HAL Shock Question It takes a coil over style spring that is usually included when you order them from a vendor.
Bos- Why would you need to go with the stock front spring? I remember reading in one of your posts that you're going with an iron block, but I don't think you'd need to go with a stock spring because of that. They make coil-over type springs (which would work with HAL's) which have a higher spring rate, and they also make them with the same spring rate, but in a more stretched out design (forgot the proper term for it). If you're worried about the extra weight causing the coil-overs to not work right, there's ways around it. I wouldn't use the stock springs if it were me though. JMO.

Re: HAL Shock Question I used the stock springs on my car with the HAL shocks. You just need to modify the spring seat from the stock shock to fit over the body of the HAL shock. I figured it'd be fine for me since there are quite a few low 10 second and 9 second cars that are running the setup with excellent results.

Re: HAL Shock Question Found that link late last night. Has pretty detailed instructions on how to do the hal install. If you do a search for "hal drag shocks with stock springs" one of the thread posts has a cross section view of exactly what has to be done to the stock spring seat to make it work with the hals.

Re: HAL Shock Question Yes you can run stock springs or any stock style spring with the front hals. What needs to be modified is the spring seat that goes around the collar of the shock. What I did when I ran stock style springs was took a 2.5" hole saw (measure collet to see what fits best) and then drill out the center of the spring seat. Reinstall and off and running.

i had to take some material out of the inside of the spring seat so it fit over the threads of the hal shocks
