They are, which is why I make mine hollow.... If you were expecting lighter because they are CM you shouldn't have been. CM is only stronger in hollow applications because you can use thinner wall tubing. And FWIW, CM is more brittle--I'd never personally use it in a bar that's meant to twist.

This is exactly why I have two Suspension Techniques sway bars in storage...a solid 25mm rear bar, and a very hefty solid 35mm front bar. Sam's front bar weighs in at ~13lbs on my scale, and the ST front bar weighs in at ~25.5 lbs. I haven't weighed the rear bars, but the difference is probably as significant.

32mm front & 22mm rear I bought them because the price is right and they do make some really nice products. But the weight is really bothering me...

Life is a compromise...light weight components almost always cost more. Take it from someone that has spent a lot of money running around in circles on his suspension purchases...you should really just get what you really want the first time around, even if it is more expensive. I'm getting in a bad habit of spending my money twice on the same parts, and it shouldn't be that way.

If the weight bothers you that much, it might be worth it...I liked my ST bars as far as they performed, but after two years of having them on, the constant nagging about how heavy they were just got to me. I don't think I will even notice the 12-lb difference in the bars, but I'll at least be able to sleep better at night knowing that it is the way I wanted it all along.

Well...I'm sure I'll notice the weight difference when putting Sam's bar in That ST bar was a bitch to install

I can speak for the front sway bar. I ordered BOTH the 32mm solid CM bar from Spohn AND Sam Strano's 35mm hollow bar. While the Spohn bar was a really nice-looking bar, it weighed in at exactly 20.6 lbs. On the same scales, I then weighed Sam's ugly-*** 35mm hollow bar and it weighed in at only 13.6 lbs. I was looking at weight savings, so, as bad as I hated to sell the Spohn bar, I sold it and went with Sam's. IMHO the end links of Sam's bar were heavier duty than the stock ones, however, the Spohn bar end links appeared to be much better. But, who needs to go overboard on heavier ends links? ... lighter is what won me over, anyway. Sam's bar and hardware ARE good pieces.

The Spohn bar is a really nice bar for the price $168 w/ tax and shipping. Sam's was $214.00 w/ tax and shipping. To me, the weight savings were worth the extra money and it is a nice bar strengthwise and it fit very well.

BTW, the stock hollow bar only weighed in at less than 3 lbs lighter than Sam's 35mm monster bar.

That's really the best idea...you may like what you have and not worry about it. While not having a hollow bar has nagged at me for a while now, it wasn't enough to replace it until now, and I'm only doing that because my car has been down for a while for some new mods, and I had some extra time and cash to deal with it.

You're not going to feel a difference between the 32mm CM solid Spohn bar and the Strano 35mm hollow bar. Just tryin' to save you some work. You'll be happy with the Spohn bar, but, you'll end up re-doing it later down the road for the weight savings ... 7 lbs. That is IF you get addicted to modding/upgrading like most of us do. Good luck and enjoy whatever you decide to go with.
