Default 93-02 4 link setup

ok so im takin my 98 camaro parts car and setting it up for drag racing. taking the 3link out and putting in a 4 link with no torque arm. i saw somebody had it in a pontiac magazine. i cant find it only with search's. anybody have an idea of where i should be looking? has anybody ran these set ups and how much improvement did you get out of it?

Why? There are a few cars runnin low 9's to high 8's on the stock style suspension.

Because the he could run a 7 with the same power if he had a 4-link. The better the suspension, the less money you need to spend on making power to get the same ET.

Ever hear of old school dragsters going 11.5 @ 102 or things like that? Their ET is ALL in the launch.

Let me suggest a short torque arm, like the jegs arm, first because

There are 2 ways to eliminate the torque arm: (1) Turning the lower control arms into makeshift ladder bars (which I personally have little confidence in, others have more though)

And (2) back-halfing the car: a good bit of money and work and time and once you start to do this, there's no turning back

but not all the 4link kits require back halfing the car. i cant find the magazine now but the kit i saw all it was was replacing frame rails and rear end. adding the 4 bars instead of the torque arm and 2 lowers.still being able to run stock wheels but still being able to hook harder.

Thats exactly what a "back-halved" car is, you have cut out the rear half of the car to attach the 4link.

cars are going 7's with the mighty Tq Arm.

You are looking at close to 8k for the conversion if you pay to have it done.

$2300- 9" or 12 bolt
$2200- Materials
$4500- Labor to have it done.

It is a very labor intensive conversion.

You say you already have a 3-link? A true 3-link or do you mean a tq arm?

I'm reviewing the merits of a 3-link conversion for road racing purposes. I get too much brake hop with a torque arm
