Some basic questions about removing the torque arm?
I just read through a bunch of threads yielded by a search. A few basic questions if you don't mind. I have two ways of elevating the car. One is drive on ramps, and the second a scissor style lift. Seems to me the scissors lift would not work since the rear tires and rear end hang down. All I want to do is replace the front mount with a urethane substitute. Should I just remove the trans mount and do the swap or remove the entire arm? I am looking for the least painful and dangerous route since I am a old fart. Thanks

It's easier to remove the trans crossmember. It will give you more room to work. You will need to support the trans. The factory TA mount is a clam shell design. There is no reall reason to remove the whole thing. I would be prepared for the TA to rotate up. This is normal and you can pull it into place by hand.

drive on to the ramps? support your tranny with a jack and remove the transmission crossmember
unbolt the clamshell and 2 bolts connecting the torque arm to the rearend
slide torque arm out, remove the clamshell
ull prob have to drill out the old mount, then put the new one back in.
reverse the steps to putting it all back together. good luck with the top bolt of the clamshell that goes into the transmission.
