Default Spring change ideas...

Here is the skinny, or fat of it, if you consider the truth or the matter. The Camaro is currently riding on Hotchkis lowering springs and Koni SA dampers. The LS1 is coming out and a big LSX stroker is going in, so weight on the front end will be increased slightly. I say slightly because we are finally getting around to dumping the excess weight on the front, AIR will be gone, AC, battery relocated, and Chrome Moly front end (K-member, upper and lower A-Arms); but of course the front end will still be a little heavier.

So will the Hotchkis be fine, or something custom and heavier to support the fatty heart transplant?

Ideas?

Are you still going to be aluminum, or going to an iron block?

Hehe dunno... i thopught id add things up to get an idea of your final weight.
I gotta roughly figure about 130 lbs for the iron block and larger throw crank+bigger pistons. other than that, everything else should stay the same, right?

so if you add up your weight reductions:

30 lbs battery relocate
15 lbs a/c compressor
8.5 lbs a/c condensor
21 lbs a/c fan motor
6 lbs air pump
40 chromoly upper+lower a-arms plus k-member

I get a meager 10 lb difference.... with a total of around 120 lbs weight reductions listed... is there something I am missing? i mean, if that is the situation you are working in, 10 lbs cant be any more than the difference between an optima and a stock battery, so I would think no problems but hey ive never been there on that one here so i cant really say from experience honestly id think youd be just fine with an extra 50 lbs with no ill results other than a miniscule ride height difference. open the hood now and put an extra battery or two in the engine bay somewhere and see what it does?
