They're just stock C6Z06 brakes, less Hawk pads from tirerack.com. But, Im running an aftermarket spindle from ATS on my truck, so they'll bolt up ANY C5/C6 combo. No mods or adapter brackets needed to run them in my case.

I've got right around $8-900 into the whole brake set up. In my case, gmpartsdirect was the cheapest.

I just installed a C5 brake kit from UMI on 17" Firehawk wheels. Awesome! Install was simple too. I used a Sawzall with a carbide blade to cut the spindle.

I love 'em, look great, stop great, and a snap to install.

Do you know where i can find out how to run them on my 01 SS? I really want to upgrade the brakes on this car.. i hate the stockers! Is there a kit? Does it just bolt on or do you have to do any cutting? How is wheel fitment with stockers or would i need 18" aftermarkets or something?

The brackets will also work with the C6 set-up but will require a 18" wheel instead of the 17" wheel like the C5. The link has some good information included.

If I can help anymore please ask. Thank you!

UMI's brackets will work for the C6Z06 brakes. There's nothing complicated about it. The problem is wheels. You basically have to have either C6Z06 wheels or custom forged wheels to fit the brakes. NONE of the reasonably priced or replica wheels, 18" sizes included, will fit the calipers. I'm looking into Ruff 278's in 19" size to see if they will work. It's possible that the 19" diameter may push the spoke bend out far enough (radially) to allow the calipers to work.

This may or may not be a stupid question but what is the difference between the c5zo6 brakes and the base c5 brakes. Are they better than the c6 brakes even though there isn't much of a difference between the base c5 brakes and the base c6 brakes? I have a CETA w/the mods listed below and am in need of an upgrade. I was contemplating on the c5Z06 brakes but didn't know if they would fit my stock 17'' rims.

The color they're painted from the factory.

Your second question has been answered on page 1.

Exactly what he said. The C5 Z06 brakes are red. That's it.

Yes, they will clear stock 17x9 SS/WS6 wheels.
