break master cylinder help

break master cylinder help well, I posted a question about my breaks not bleading and turns out the black shaft ( pencil pointy thing) that gets pushed into the actual cylinder from the firewall, fell on to the floor while bolting everything back on. NO **** HUH? Anyway, now my problem is the breaks are way too stiff, with only about 1 inch of firm pedal. Anyone know whats up with this or got a link to the breakdown of the break master cylinder?
