How to remove lower spring perch from a deCarbon shock??
Need urgent advise ASAP - after couple years I got to installing new SLP bilstein/eibach shock/spring combo. Everything went sort of as expected until I got to the point of reusing the lower spring perch from a stock decarbon shock. There is a metal piece on top of the decarbon shock which prevent the perch from sliding off. Do you remove it or you've got to have a new perch?? I'm afraid the old shock might get damaged and blow up after I apply force to that metal piece. Please advise ASAP - I need the car drivable tomorrow morning.

you can tap the piece off with hammer, so that you can slide your perch off. Or what i did was just flip the shock upsidedown hold the shock by the perch and ram the perch down onto the bottom piece. Like a slide hammer.
