Default What is this??

There is a rod connecting the rear end to the back of the tranny. Do any of you know what it is?? The car started banging and popping. I could feel it through my feet and through the shifter. I thought I broke a u-joint. When I got off from work I jacked it up, and saw that that rod was snapped in half!!! I slipped a nut over the rod, welded the break, then welded the nut over the top of the break to reinforce it. It seems to have fixed the problem, but I still have no clue what this thing is. Any help would be appreciated.

Torque Arm. If its broken, you'll need to get another one. Its definitely an important part of the suspension in these cars. You can either get a stock replacement, or search through the many threads on here to research an aftermarket alternative/upgrade.

The only thing that could be is the torque arm....I'm assuming it is stock. Time to buy a good aftermarket version... you can check site sponsors >>>>>
