Direct TV in Houston
and if u do cancel for goodness sake dont go to comcast ha
the hard part is finding the installation kits that contain all the cables & connectors you need without spending a fortune for it.
when i wired up my DTV, i bought 3 install kits (two kits for my DirecTivo unit that has 2 tuners, and another for a second standard receiver) at Radio Shack, and they were like $15/each.
then a couple years later, it was hard to find any place that sold the same exact kit for less than $50....i forget where i ended up getting the kit then, but i was able to find it for about $20 after a lot of searching.
i personally don't trust an install person, i've heard of tons of stories of people getting their old receivers (owned, not leased) taken when they upgrade to a new receiver, and some really shitty cable installs & such. it's so easy to install a cable kit for DTV and point a dish, a money could probably do it if they knew how to read the instructions.....and yet, DTV install techs screw up on stuff all the time....i don't understand it.....
the only way i would ever let anyone do an install is if it was required by law, such as the DirecPC service that uses a DTV dish to send/receive data....they won't sell you just the equipment and let you install it yourself.....since it both sends & receives, instead of receiving only, it's required by law for a "qualified & trained technician" do the install for you.
but then again, i'd never put myself in the position of moving to an area where i couldn't get cable/dsl/wireless service anyway, so that's kind of a moot point.......
