Default Cool use for iPhone - 0-60

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/30/au...=2&oref=slogin

A guy developed a program for the iPhones to detect your car's 0-60 time using its accelerometer. Probably not super accurate but pretty sweet. Someone w/ iphone should try this out and let us know!

Welll I don't know if I will be throwing my Iphone in the air anytime soon, however I do have the Application that reads your automobiles G forces and calculates your 0-60, 1/8, and 1/4 mile times along with MPH, reaction time, and estimated horse power. It has surprised the hell out of me on how accurate it has been the 3 times i've actually used it and had a passenger to read my mph ect. off too me. I was amazed. The application I downloaded is called the PocketDyno. Try it out if you have an IPhone!

That is the BEST marketing ploy I have ever heard. You ENTICE the owners to breaking the phone so they will buy a new one... cause it's SOOOO much fun throwing it in the air harder and harder
So, does it have a "black box" feature so you can tell how good the "last" throw was?

Well, just bought it and I cant say its really worth it. Tried it on my TA and on my buddies 300c HEMI. Says my car has 261 at the wheels and his has 161. Says my car runs a 13.5. I am going to try and find the mount and try it again.

What settings are you using for the rollout and start G's? Where do you put it while doing the test? I figured it was user error.

I got PocketDyno and it was pretty close on several runs. Did one run at the track and it said I had 3207 RWHP and hit 100mph in 3.06sec and topped out in the 1/4 at 240.85. . . . I think the phone got banged a bit when at the track the actual pass was about a 12.4.

Well basically, I set it in the cup holder at a slight angle ( just where the bottom of the phone rests against the bottom rear of the holder) and the settings are Rollout speed 0", Rollout Distance 12" and Trigger .10G's You have to calibrate it to your vehicle before you make any runs. My Vehicle's settings are -

Weight 3670lbs
Drivetrain loss 23%

I've had 4 out of 6 runs say the car makes between 297-308hp but i have had a couple where the results seem out there lol

It's fairly accurate (within 2 tenths) hp stuff is off from what it reads to the wheels on the 2 cars I've seen it used on.
