I had the BBk intake and I got rid of it! That thing took forever to cool down and produced shitloads of heat!! Not to mention its an extra 15-20 pounds over the LS6 or Fast intake. I traded it for an LS6 intake and feels much better. I kept the 80mm TB though. If your gonna spend that much money for both intake/TB just get the fast 90/90. Its an extra 100 or 200 bucks on Texas speed.

it looks like junk and its hot as hell when you pop the hood on a car with it...
feels like an lt1 you cant even work or touch anything for like an hour, imo if your on a budget id get an ls6 and a stock tb ported out, youll actually feel it

The BBK and the Weiand intakes make great boat anchors.

Wow so much hate for the BBK intake. How many of you PERSONALLY have experience? I have one and think it is a fine intake after a little work. Its is an improvement over a factory LS6 intake. It gets hot? So what. At the track from cool down to 4 runs later the MPH was within .3 On the dyno, the numbers kept going up every run for 3 runs. The bottom panel is a pain the the ***. Had mine welded shut after porting what needed to be ported.

If you can find one cheap (i got mine with TB for 350) its worth it.

The main thing, it needs serious attention to the runner openings internally. The machining would be considered "rough" at best. For an intake on the cheap, I would run it over an LS6. After you clean it up and weld a plate on the bottom.

Ive had experience on both lingenfelter(sp) and the bbk they both suck, and come with a big piece of carboard they call a gasket, (lean fuel trims waiting to happen) and one you had to add your own fittings for vaccum hoses and pcv, just junk in my opinion

Right now fast is the king of intakes. I haven't seen a bbk intake on a motor in a long time.

Have to disagree Fast 92 will have very small gains on an otherwise stock bolt on car over the LS6 to me its not worth the extra $700-$800. Seems to be just the new thing shops are shoving down peoples throats lately. Maybe on a turbo or supercharged application. Maybe you should ask his application before turning into FAST Fan boys. Seeing as the air only touches the intake for about a millisecond the heat-soak myth is just that. Personally I dont care if my intake is aluminum like 90% of the other cars on earth or if its plastic like GM's brilliant way to save money, they all pretty much do the same thing give or take a few ponys. So get an LS6 and put the extra money you save towards a set of Heads and a cam and you will see greater power gains for your money.

Im going to have to agree Ls6 is a very good upgrade. Fast is good but i'm willing to try something else. If they ever come out with the weiand street warrior that is.

I need a better intake so that I can wake my cam up a little bit. The reason I am asking is because I don't wanna spend the 1000 dollars on a 92/92 combo and I was exploring other options. I am running nitrous, cam, bolt-ons, and a valvetrain upgrade. The heads have not been ported. I appreciate everyone's two cents regarding this matter

I know Zach and I know his set up. Maybe you should know a little something about the people posting before making generalizations....

I also stand by the suggestion of a FAST.

Zach, talk to mmorrison (Michael) about his experience with a Fast on a cammed LS1. It is worth the $ at your level. Plus you won't have to worry about it ever holding you back when the time comes for bigger and better things. Just save up a little longer and do it right the first time.

Anyone know of any more exotic sheet aluminum style intakes? I had a vendor saved on my other puter and cant find them now. I'm building mine more for the shine factor than major hp. That why I concidered the aluminum intakes and the only reason.

Thanks,
Dave
