Football question
We might win at Oakland. Other than that, we'll go 0-fer.
I still wonder what the season might have looked like had Lolsenfels not puked up the game against Indy. They might be playing with a whole lot more confidence, not to mention they might actually believe in their QB. That still doesn't hide the fact that the defense is atrocious.

Our offense is great until we enter the redzone. I'm no football expert, but something tells me this little fact is due to bad play calling. Kubiak likes to waste 1st and 2nd down and goal on trying to throw the ball. We have Steve Slaton. Let him take it to the endzone.
Kyle Shanahan is the offensive coordinator and he calls the plays. Kubiak can hear what is being called over his headset and being the man in charge he has the right to change the play and is ultimately responsible for what happens. IMO Kubiak needs to be fired after the season.

Kubiak shouldn't lose his job. After the Indy game two weeks ago he asked the team in the locker room 'Are you with me?' and got a resounding yes. They players like Kubiak and they say they'll 'Go to war with him any day.' They're still playing hard for him and themselves. We've lost some tough games but we always play hard. Nobody has quit or given up.
It's no secret we haven't had the season we're capable of having and the blame could probably be spread evenly between coaches and players. We have a young team and that means silly mistakes you don't see from seasoned vets.
I think Kubiak gets one more year. If we fix the turnovers and even improve on defense only a little bit we can be a real playoff team.
Ben, I sure thought that Shanahan called the plays. You sure that Kubiak does? Regardless, IMO Kubiak and the entire staff needs to go. To this point they haven't made the progress they should have and there is no reason why this team shouldn't be in playoff contention and never have been a contender for seven years. I understand that the first few years are building years and making the playoffs isn't realistic, but there is no excuse for this team to not have been in the playoffs this year. None.
Ahman Green - don't even get me started.

Ahman was placed on IR and they signed Darius Walker back to the practice squad. Ahman's contract was restructured this offseason so he's not making a ton of money. His base salary was something like $900,000 with incentives if he took a certain percentage of the snaps, which he won't get to now, so we don't have to pay him anymore than the base salary.
Slaton has given Ahman big props for helping him during his rookie year. But it looks like Ahman's career is over. It would've been nice for him to finish out the year healthy but now that won't happen. Slaton is tired and beat up. The college season is only 12 games long and if you think about all that happens between when they beat Oklahoma in their bowl game to training for the combine, to draft day, then OTA's, mini camps, training camp, pre-season, and now 11 games, the guy hasn't had a break in almost a year.
I liked the idea of picking up Green, but how many 11 year veterans can still rush for 1,000 yards? None of them. Terrell Davis was league MVP now he doesn't have any ligaments in his knees. Shawn Alexander was league MVP and now he can't stay on a team. L.T. can't stay healthy and has seen his production drop way off. I wonder how long backs like Peterson and Portis will last. You almost have to have two backs that can produce.
And yes, Kubiak calls the plays. Kyle is still learning and at some point will be the play caller but don't forget he's the youngest coordinator in the entire league.
