Completed a driving school this weekend
Loca, Will is correct about the side tape on the Z06. These cars are notorious for slinging rocks off the front tires and hitting those wide *** quarter panels. We did one session without the tape and ended up with two tiny rock chips. Tape went on after that!
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Lisa was on my *** pretty much that entire last session. I knew I didn't have the speed on that last lap getting on the straight to fend her off. I was like "FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"
Viper is in the near future....this event pretty much sealed the deal.
I highly recommend this event to first timers. It was a good mix of classroom and track time....and the classrooms weren't really overly technical classroom sessions, more safety oriented and pointing out what people are doing right and wrong. The instructors were pretty laid back and gave excellent feedback during all sessions. You will be surprised how much faster you will get in one weekend!!

As for The Driver's Edge, it is a good group, and I'm not gonna knock them too much (they are MUCH better than they used to be), but I gotta throw in a shameless plug for TWS's own Performance Driving School. Guaranteed you will get more drive time for your $, there are less cars on track, and, having had about half the instructors ride with me at some point, they're great. No yellers in our group!
Glad to see you had fun though Ken.BIG GULPS EH?
WELP, SEE YA LATER.
Why did you have to tape your rear vents? I thought you had the Invisishield put on it. I had them put almost that exact pattern with Invisishield on the vent and up over the rear flare.
What I plan to do before I'll be attending one of these:
Racing seat (needs to sit lower so I can wear a helmet)
Stainless steel brake lines w/fluid
Eventually a harness bar and 5-point harness (I'll try it without first, just the seat with the stock belts)
Wheels/tires for the track (probably some Nitto Invos).
Possibly the larger capacity sump canister (which you already have on your '09).
It probably won't be until this time next year that I can get everything together. My wife is still recovering from the shock of my bringing the car home and ditching her beloved automatic.

Southwest of Ft. Worth is Motorsports Ranch and TDE has a several events there throughout the year. MSR-Cresson is a great first timer track. There is a ton of run-off room with nothing to hit if you make a really bad mistake.
Rick puts on a great and safe show. It's well organized and you get a lot of track time for your entry fee. Those of us who instruct have to go through some serious training, with the goal to keep the student and car safe.
Lots of folks go to these events thinking they have great car control skills. It can be very humbling when you are pedaling as hard as you can and there is Mini Cooper with 2 passengers ******* your ***.
A car did a HUGE endo exiting T7. There is a crater where it lalnded.
Driver put 2 wheels off and was afraid of scratching his car and jerked the wheel to get it back on track. Turned it sideways, wheels dug into the soft dirt and over she went. Driver was OK ... car not so much.
