I don't know why anyone is surprised. I mean really,... no way Neil could dive right into a full LS1... he had to stick his toes in the water first.

Congrats, good looking truck.

It's all an RPO code, "LS1" is simply automotive blanket term for every thing based on the Gen III/IV architecture because the LS1 was the first variant offered in 1997 in the C5. Every thing else stemmed from that family when in 98 we saw the LS1 go in to F-cars, and then variants of that motors architecture put in to use in the truck line, 4.8, 5.3. 6.0. You cant call a Ford 4.0 V6 a LSanything because it isn't based off that motor.

Guys have used the 5.3 heads on 5.7s, I would get a cam set up for that application. You ought to look in to a whipple for that sucker!

Thought you were selling the dirt bikes and getting back in to cars? LT1s may suck to work on, but it hasnt literally cost me an arm and a leg.

It's still not an LS1. I've never heard anyone use the LS1 has a "blanket term" Gen III and IV engines. The LS1 is a very specific engines, as are the others. It'd be like calling the Gen II engines LT1s and SBCs and vice versa.

Those of us who have been in the ls1 game know just a bit more than some newb like you. The lsx term wasn't even coined until a little before the time you joined this site.

Then Shackleford hasn't spoken to too many car enthusiasts. LS1 is to Gen III motors like Kleenex is to facial tissues. Not every facial tissue is actually a Kleenex, but people use it as a general blanket term.

I do prefer to be more precise myself... if someone asks me what motor I have in my truck, I say "LQ4"... but I know very well that many people use LS1 to describe the Gen III family of motors.

And for you sir that makes no sense anyway all of the engines well almost all of the engines on this forum are SBCs, Small Block Chevy engines.

Well played good sir . Nope. Vette is still mostly stock and staying that way until its totalled or sold. Dirt bikes are way more fun--they take more skill to ride/drive and less funny money to own.

I'll stick to cars, we did LS1 brakes on the T/A this weekend, I thought of the teal 96 Z28 you used to own since it had ls1 brakes on it
