Need help peeps. I got pulled tonight by the Dallas PD. I had just left UTD when I see the typical lights of a police car in the back. He kept turning his headlights on and off and a minute later turns the flashers on. So i stopped and he came up to the window and took the usual license. I didnt have proof of insurance so im fine with that ticket. I also got one for having my license plate light being out........or so he said. So after he gives me the ticket, i get out and look and the light is working. So he says oh i cant see it from 50 feet away. How do I go about it now? I can get the insurance one dismissed coz I have it, just didnt have proof at the time. But how do I get the other ticket dismissed?

With all the backups in Dallas courts, even if it was a legit ticket you could still get away with fighting it with no fines. Sounds like a BS ticket like stated above and that is why I never drive the SS to go visit my friends at the UTD campus even though car is legal and passes inspection. And I only live 5 minutes north of 190 off Independence/Waterview. That 1 minute drive south of 190 on Waterview is like driving into a gauntlet.

WOW a similar thing happened to me last night too. I was driving normal(60mph) on I35 when i passed one of those all black State Trooper cars that was on the side of the road, he ended up hauling *** just to catch up to me 2 exits after i had passed him as i was getting off the freeway just to pull me over and give me a written warning for my license plate light "not being bright enough" claiming that he needed to able to read my plate from 50ft away. i looked at him funny and told him that it was the factory one . He just told me to get it checked out and sent me on my way.

Im going to get a new bulb just to see if it made a difference but i doubt it. Not my fault if they made the car that way. What should i tell the judge? You think taking a picture would work?

Yeah, it's a fix-it ticket, just take a picture of it as soon as possible and get the date on the picture, and take the car to court in case they want to check.

This is happening alot in tx now, with the "LP light being out". I think its just a BS reason for them to pull you over and look in your car.

I read or saw somewhere that they call it the "drunk light" because 2/3 cars usually do not have one within "code" or it's burnt out. Gives the cop an easy reason to pull you over.

The light thing SUCKS. I've been pulled over more times than I care to admit for that dang bulb, even when I went to a LED back there.
