Default The Official 2009 MLB Season Predictions

In my dumb opinion^^ at the title

American League

West: Angels
Central: Indians
East: Red Sox

Wildcard: Yankees
Best Record: Red Sox

National League

West: Dodgers
Central: Cubs
East: Mets

Wildcard: Phillies
Best Record: Cubs

Cy Young Winners
AL: Dice-K Matsuzaka
NL: Johan Santana

MVP Winners
AL: hard to pick, A-rod or Kevin Youkilis
NL: Manny Ramirez

World Series

Cubs vs Red Sox................( I wish lol, almost happened in 03, damn you Aaron Boone and Steve Bartman)

2009 World Series Champion
Boston Red Sox lol

As far as the hometown team, I think the Astros are gonna finish third in the Central behind the Cubs and Cardinals. And imo the Rangers will also finish third behind the and Angels and Oakland.

Wow, you're quite the optimist aren't you? You do realize that the Corpus Christi Hooks defeated the Astros a couple of nights ago, right? And as an avid Hooks follower, I know how badly they suck. And don't listen if someone says the 'Stros weren't trying. Wandy Rodriguez is our #2 starter. That right there tells me how doomed we are.

I'll be there for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in person to see how bad it's going to be. I'll post some pictures and an assessment of how many losses we should expect.

They looked fine on Friday when they beat the Indians (Moehler was solid), and they were winning on saturday until the last inning when they let Brocail pitch instead of Jose. People put way too much on what happens in the preseason...

I think the stros will have a chance to compete as long as they can avoid fluke injuries. Miguel is in a contract year. Hunter is improving his discipline at the plate, and Bourn is starting to actually hit through the left side of the infield. They won't win big, but they are a competitive team.

OP:
Dice-K for Cy is a HUGE reach considering he isn't even the best pitcher on his team. Your mvp choices are slightly more reasonable, but A rod coming of surgery is questionable, and you can never trust Manny to deliver when under a contract of more than a year. He will put up your average manny numbers, but not mvp ones like the end of last season.

The sox wont make it to the series this year

In the AL I dont know who it will be but it wont be the sox!

Not the RED ones anyways.

In the NL... the mets put alot of focus on their bullpen. Hopefully that will help their september woes. Actually the last 3 years they have been the best team in the NL until september came around and they calapsed both years. So I think they will go all the way now that they have a sturdier bullpen

Well I was at Minute Maid Park for opening day earlier. I took my Father-In-Law to his first ever baseball game. He was a lifelong Cubs fan and I'm an Astros fan. So I bought him an official Cubs Andre Dawson 1980s jersey and I wore my Lance Berkman jersey and we had a friendly little rivalry.

It was a lot of fun until the 2nd pitch of the season was rocketed 400+ feet out of the ballpark. And it just got worse from there.

The Astros lost of course. Nothing new there. But it was a lot of fun. I took a couple of hundred pictures and I'll try to post some later.

Overall, I think you have made some good picks, but I think the Yankees will probably wind up winning the East and having the best record. In fact, I think you could swap the Red Sox and the Yankees on your list and that would be a better prediction. I don't see Kevin Youkilis or Manny winning the MVP. And Dice-K for Cy Young? That's a stretch.

As far as the Astros go, I can only HOPE for 2nd in the NL Central and a wildcard spot, but that's pushing it.

Yeah man...1 game played (against probably the best team in the NL and one of the best pitchers).

Calm down. There's still 161 more games to play.

If the MLB cut the season in half it would be more exciting.

we were there in left field and had a chick fight break out in the 8th inning. it is way too early to tell who is going to do what in the season. Tejada was hitting really well last night. I dont think berkman was 100% and lee is always a slow starter.
