i personally know three different people that own a truck with a ford built diesel motor. All Three of Them are having problems. Ford diesels SUCK. Now the older fords with the International Motors were the bomb. Progress rail used to use them as service trucks. The last one i saw still ran and it had over 450,000 miles on it. i don't know what the truck is doing now, but that was several years ago. My point is that Ford has no business building diesel motors I.E. Powerstroke.

I hear that a lot and have heard of the nightmares w/ the 6.0 Powerstrokes, but I know several people who have owned them without issues. I guess they are hit or miss.

yes the 7.3's were badass. much much much better than the 6.0's. they should have never switched to the 6.0 in '03

My father's 2006 Duramax diesel dually can spin tires with a thousand pound welding machine in the bed."
thats ignorant. cummins are very good engines. what thread is this?

I'm on here (since the week LS1tech was started) because I am a fan of LSX powered F-bodies, Vettes, GTOs, Trucks, Pontiac G8s, etc.

I'm also a fan of old muscle cars, Turbo Buicks, Mustangs, Vipers, etc. I'm not some ignorant brand loyalist.

that's exactly my point. Ford made a bad decision and they are paying for it. When people tell me that their powerstroke is better than my duramax, I don't get pissed or say anything to them. I just smile and say, you'll see... feeling sorry for them the whole time.

i've got a funny story to tell you.
four or five months ago i was talking to a guy who had a 06 Powerstroke with a turbo upgrade who said that he picked that truck because it had the most power out of any truck for towing. He tested several dodges and fords and found out that the powerstroke would come over the hill towing his gooseneck trailer at about seventy miles an hour at full throttle. The dodge managed 67, and the gas burners were both about 55. I had my 07 GMC with the Duramax that we just bought and was arguing with him about whose was stronger. We thought that a test would be the best way to answer the question and gave him my keys. He hitched up and about five minutes later he came flying over the hill at 81. He pulled over and hitched back up to his truck. When he gave me back the keys he didn't say a word. The next day all I see is him driving a brand new Sierra 2500 HD. Still didn't say a word.

same story applies to mr. bigshot dodge. The Ford's better than the cummins, (sad I know) but the Duramax is the best for towing anything. Honestly, when you can tow 5,000 pounds and still outrun a bmw, you gotta be doing something right.

You are REALLY making yourself look stupid. Keep going though. It's cheap entertainment for those who are reading this thread.

You're telling me! I think I just opened up a can of worms!

As for my friend, turns out is block IS cracked, so it's time for a new car yet again. I think I've talked him into getting a cammed '01 Z28. It seems to have been VERY well taken care of, and the owner seems to know his ****. It also only has 75,000 on the clock, so it still has relatively low miles.
