Default is this normal

if i am at wide open throttle and get up to redline or close to it and then press the clutch in the rpm go down but it will hover at a high rpm like 1800 or 2000 and then go back down to rpm like normal

I assume you are letting off the gas when you push the clutch in?

Sounds like a TPS or IAC issue to me.

I've driven a few cars that did that. I always assumed it was to aid in smooth shifts. Kinda like rev-matching for the next gear.

thats what my first thought was to so thats why assumed it may be normal

mine does that sometimes, will drop to about 1300-1500 rpm or so, then once i stop completely it will drop back down to 700-800

i think it may depend on how fast you are going to be honest? my little carolla does that when im driving a little fast, like 60+

yeah, mine pretty much only does it if im cruising in 6th and then coast to a stop

Do you have any aftermarket modifications, like a cam that required drilling a larger hole in the throttle body? Engine will rev as long as it's getting air. Let it rev. Might want to check into the tuning and stick to premium fuels.
