I work at the animal shelter in Huntsville and we don't put pits down just cuz they are pits. We keep them and try to adopt them as long as we can. I actually adopted my pit from there. I think that's like an 8 hour drive for you though. I'd check around as not all shelters put them down right away. I know Houston does though

in odessa they will keep pits and chows for 3 days, then put them to sleep. when we were looking for dogs we went there to see if we could adopt one from them. they said they wont adopt out pits or chows and if the owner doesnt come for them there gone. that sucks cuz not all of them are mean, im gona keep them for now till i find the owners or someone that want them. i would just keep them but i have 4 already. just dont want the dogs put down cause they got out.

it's a Razor's Edge Blue Brindle American Pitbull. not an American Bulldog.
i paid $2500 for her almost 6 years ago from here: http://strictlypits.com/ <--- if you click on the "Females", she was litter mates with Psycho.

yeah, that's one of the primary traits i look for when i get pits. since she was a Razor's Edge Bloodline, i felt comfortable with her all the time. Razor's Edge pits are bred for size and temperament.
i told my son to go take a picture with Trouble and he went and slammed himself on her butt while she was laying there.
she got up like "aawww man, WTF", but then she saw the delicious Oreo.
after i took the picture my son came up to me and said "Trouble cookie, Trouble cookie".
he walked back to her and rewarded her for being such a photogenic dog, HAHA !!!!
her first Oreo in 8 years. it was her Thanksgiving treat

i didnt say it was an american bulldog i said it was an american bully. 2 different things. educate yourself on the dog you own. razors edge dogs are not a true APBT.
http://www.americanbullyworld.com/americanbully-forums/
Please Note: The APBT ranges in size from 22 pounds to 110 pounds (rare), with the most common being between 35 - 55 pounds (16-25 kg.), in fact the original APBT's were between 20 - 40 pounds (9-18 kg.) and were bred small for their main purpose, fighting, These dogs are varying from small to extra large. A very common misconception is that APBT's are muscle bound (viscous) hulks that weigh in around 85 pounds (39 kg.) and this is generally not the majority, Most of the APBT's that Are that large have been crossed with another breed
the breed standard set bt the AKC is 35-65 lbs.

I'm liking this thread. imlooking, those pics of your dog on her back remind me of my dog! haha, when someone's petting her, she'll fall right over on her back and wait for a bellyrub.

yeah, i've owned pits for the last 16 years.
i've had "real" pits such as Buedreaux's, Colby's, Jeeps and Carvers. hell, my last pitbull was 8 years iold when he passed away. he was 49lbs.
Trouble, my Razor's Edge, is a bully pit (lt1 said american bully and i have never heard a dogman call a Razor's Edge).
a lot of old school dogmen like calling this new breed of big muscular pits "blue hippos". these Razor's Edge dogs are typically blue and typically weigh 70-105lbs. Trouble is a female and weighs 92lbs. she's pretty much the first bully pit i have ever owned. the rest of my pits have been less than 60lbs due to the bloodline they were.
