Default got a weird MAF/idle problem... need some help

Hey guys, I recently bought a 99 T/A with an LQ9 6.0, couple other mods here and there, but the focus here is the 6.0 Delphi MAF.

I bought the car with a check engine light. Pulled the code, and it was "MAF or VAF circuit low input". Checked the fuses, saw the ENG SENSOR (20amp fuse) was blown. Replaced the fuse, reset the code, ran the car a bit... code popped back on, and the fuse blew.

Replaced the fuse again, with a 30amp fuse, reset the code, ran the car a bit... code popped back on, and the fuse blew again.

I've checked the voltage going to the sensor with a test light and all the wiring is good, nothing seems shorted in/around the harness.

Disconnected the MAF, replaced the fuse... car ran fine w/o the MAF, code popped back on, but no blown fuse!

Picked up a brand new 6.0 Delphi MAF, swapped them out, and here's where it gets weird...

Got a NEW code now: Idle control system-RPM low

car runs fine on the road, but idles really really rough and really really rich, however, no blown fuse, and no MAF code with the new Delphi MAF installed.

I'm beyond confused on where to look now. Maybe the car was tuned with a bad MAF, and now has a properly working MAF and screwed with the tune.

Any ideas/suggestions are great appreciated, thanks.

if you have longtubes check the drive side header , sometimes the oxygen sensor sits and rubs on that heat shield and cuts the power wire to it and blows the fuse

well I guess that makes sense but it hasn't even popped a fuse since I replaced the maf. now it's just running super rich. maybe the car was originally tuned with a bad maf?

I think its one of your o2 sensor wires also. They will cause the exact symptoms youre describing. Check the connectors and wires for any shorting out or chaffing just to be sure. Sometimes if you drive through water theyll short out and melt the connector even though its supposed to be water proof.

I had the same problem, turns out it was my 02 sensors, i replaced both and got a spark plug change...just in case, fixed the issue. Not sure with the sensor popped but that fixed my problem. i have hooker longtubes.
