Default Anyone shoot a FN Five Seven?

Im trying to get some info from people that own or have shot this gun. It looks like a bad *** gun. And no i am not interested in it because it was the gun used in the Fort Hood shooting. I was unaware until recently while researching it that it was the primary gun used.

How accurate is it?
Is it good enough for Self Defense?
Is it worth 1000+?

Yes it is, and with 20+1 mag capacity its insane. They also make 30 round mags and 10 round extensions!

Shoots great, accurate with hardly any recoil. It was louder then a typical 9mm, probably due to the muzzle velocity being 2,000+ fps. Not sure how good it is for defensive purposes, but theoretically it ought to be pretty damn good.

Defense effectiveness would depend on what you shoot through it although most of the commonly available 5.7 loads will just go in and out (real fast!) and not transfer much energy. Some of the rounds do have a lot of internal wounding potential though.

But they are super nice and accurate pistols. My friend who is a member on here just sold his. It was a lot of fun and 5.7 ammo has come way down so they are getting cheap to shoot compared to most other popular handgun calibers.

Yea, i bet it cost way more to shoot that than a .45 and .45 ammo is retarded high compared to my .40.

His was the older and more sought after military model with the bigger trigger guard. He also had several mags and some ammo...think he let it go for $1300, it was LNIB.

^Pretty much spot on. I liked the one I shot. Extremely accurate with barely any recoil. Felt like a .22 pistol. I think it was also fairly lightweight when loaded.

It used to be a few years ago, but not at all anymore.

At the last show I was at about a month ago it was about spot on with .45 ammo at .35-.40 cents (I know because I bought half a case of .45 for $230 with tax and we were pricing the different 5.7 rounds).

I'm looking to pick up one as my next gun before they get banned. They have great range and shoot great but I wouldn't consider it a good defense gun. I'd opt for a .45 or .40 for defense / ccw. They keep their value fairly well also even if they are a bit expensive.

Bought 5.7 ammo recently online for $19.50 for a box of 50.. Just finished building me an AR 57... Uses a P90 50 round clip on top of the AR15 lower receiver.

I dont own a FN 5.7 but I can at least vouch for FN... I carry an FNP .40 and I love it. I had never heard of FN before I bought it (into firearms but dont know everything about them... thats what my friends are for) but I can honestly say that it is a very good, very reliable firearm built with great quality.

I found a gun shop that had one and put it on Layway today, everyone thinks they are going to get banned and that always kicks up the price. It felt really well in my hand and well made. Can't wait to shoot it!

I can always find a .40 so ill get this for now.
