shifter positioning

Got the car back yesterday and tried to do some shifting and it just wasn't happening, the tranny itself is fine, but the position its in is kinda weird. for 2nd, 4th, and 6th its fine but 1st, 3rd, and 5th it will barely get into gear only because the stick can't get fully into the gears and will throw it out before I can engage, help a brotha out?

What kind of shifter is it? Does it have adjustable stop bolts on the shifter base?

its a stock shifter no short throw, i'm thinking of buying an mgw and calling it a day.

Sounds like its hitting the stops on the shifter to me. I would double check before ordering anything.

What he said. Pull the boot off and adjust the stop.
