Thumbs down Wth??

So I went to get into my car to head to work this morning, popped the door open and sat down. I put the key in, pushed the clutch in, turned the key and NOTHING happened. All my electronics are on, and the headlights dim when I turn the key.. No clicking noise or anything other than the lights dim. Could this be a starter issue? Just cold weather? She started up just fine yesterday! Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Sounds like a battery. Mine did this last week. My battery was fine a week earlier, and I came out to get something out of it, and it was dead. No door locks or anything.

I would start with the battery. Mine did the same thing. Started just fine, drove home and parked out front. Went out the same day and NOTHING! The only warning I had (which I did not heed) was the speedometer and tachometer bouncing hard when I would go to start it, one out of 10 times in the prior 6 months or so.

Start with battery, then check alternator, then starter.
Sucks. I think this "sudden" cold weather has alot of our cars acting funny.
My car was acting strange yesterday. After it got to operating temp, everything was fine.

Could be the switch at the top of the clutch pedal is going out. Mine does it occassionally. Press the clutch all the way to the floor and slowly let up while trying to start it. That usually gets mine going.

I'll try the clutch thing when I get get home today and if that doesn't work I'll try and jump it. Is that clutch switch easily accesible?

Is there a security light that stays lit on the dash? If so, just wait 5 minutes and try it again.

If the security light comes on, and stays lit, your vats system has gone bad.

You can always pull the starter and have it tested.

My corvette would do the same thing, and I noticed it was the clutch pedal/switch. If it was not depressed the ENTIRE way it wouldn't start. there were times I thought I was pressed all the way down, and it wouldn't start, so I would just let go, and do it again and it started everytime. Same thing happens now that I have an automatic in her. If the gear selector isn't pushed ALL THE WAY forward it thinks int's in gear and won't start.

Might try it, it's worth a shot before you go start pulling batteries and starters.

Mine did the same thing with a LOOSE battery conn. Odd but it was letting enough power through for the rest of the car, but not enough for the starter. I tightened the power cables and the car fired right up.

She must have known I was thinking about selling her at the time... lol

Good news!! It was the clutch pedal switch.. Took off the connector, and plugged it back in and pressed the button several times and she started like a champ! Bought a new switch at oreilleys for $7.. Not bad
