Huge question PLEASE HELP So i am a college student and im plaining on driving back home to austin for huntsville today and when i went to go get breakfast this morning my battery was COMPLETELY dead. I would go get a new battery for it but remember i am a college student, aka im shit pore lol. Now to my question, if i jumped it and let it run for like 10 mins would it drive back to austin without dying on me? The drive is right at 3 hours fyi. Thanks guys. |
ya you can just when you stop to get gas dont turn it off.. just leave it running i had to do this drving back to austin from lubbock.. 6 hr drive |
depends on if it just died for something staying on or if its a bad battery? I would jump it drive t around for a while turn it off n see what happens? |
as long as your alternator is good, the alternator will recharge the battery as you drive. as an extra precaution, i wouldnt turn it off untill you get to your destination... |
Alright guys, Im going to go ahead and drive it around here for about 10 mins first then turn it off and see what happens. If it works out alright ill probably wind up leaving around 2... Thanks guys wish me luck lol |
lmao, i've been there before. Just don't turn it off unless you're sittin in a vatozone parking lot |

Using your alternator to charge a rather dead battery, will wear out your alt prematurely, and you'll be stuck having to replace your battery and your alt. In that 10 minutes you drive around, go to a Vatozone and have your battery recharged (it's FREE). Walk around the store for an hour, or take a nap in your car. Either way, you'll be good to go on your trip...safely...and for the most part, worry free. |
