Default What to do about a motor that has sat a while

I should be able to put 1500-2000 towards my truck every month now. Finally got work again.

This LQ9 in my garage has sat for a few months atleast, no idea how long befor i got it. Its a 2003 with about 36k on the clock.

What should i do before firing this thing up to keep from hurting anything? Its full of oil and all open spots of the motor have plastic over them.
I should have this in in the coming months. Transmission shopping when get paid then on to the wiring harness, DBW setup and a tune. Then the install.

Thanks for the help.

You shouldn't have any issues.. Pretty much every car I have owned didn't run when I bought them. I changed the oil and plugs and they all fired right up. The GTO sat for like 30 years or something and started first crank.
