Default Fried My PCM

Couple of weeks ago i fried my computer by accident and now i need a new one but my question is does it matter if the year is different on the computer, like if i picked up a 2000 computer from a trans am would it still work if i put it in my car

If your car is a 98, you need a 98. They are pinned different and work different.

And if you buy one from the dealer, you buy the PCM ... not the programming that is supposed to be inside.

It has to be flashed by the service department. And I think it has to be installed in the car to do so.

If you repinned your harness for a 99+ car, then you would be in a better situation. And Mitch is right, the dealership is a bunch of *****. They want it their way or go somewhere else.
