Default Little help with the C5.

I posted in the C5 section and no one has helped me out yet. So I was hoping that my Texas guys would help me.

I just bought a '99 Vette, Coupe, M6, 41K.

I'm really excited about the car in a whole. My mom took the car for the week and put a little over 1100 miles on it and now it has 43K.

I have a couple of questions about the car.

1. It has a pretty good wheel vibration at 70+mph. I think it is because the front left wheel has no weights on it that I can see or feel. I will be going to get the front tires balanced tomorrow 4/7 and will post up if this fixed it.

2. When I make a slight right turn there is a sound of a rub that seems to be really bad, and it is coming from the right, yet the further into the turn I go the better the sound gets. My family mechanic, who is a "good ole boy" said that it was probably the fact that it was only driven 2,000 miles the last 3 years the linkage is stiff and after time it will lossen up. I will be doing a 10-11 hour drive one way in 2 weeks and want to make sure this and #1 go away.

3. I hate the stock shifter and want to know how to take it off.

4. It has Depo headlights, and I need to know if they can hold HID's without the full harness or if I still need the relay.

Any help would be great
Thanks.

From the research that I did, Depo headlights are changed form 9005/9006 to H7. So I thought they might be HID with the relay already attached. This is the site that I keep seeing people post from. So I hope that they are factual. It says HID ready, but HID kit not included.

I'll be a vet in a Vette in about 6 and a half years if I don't re-up.

Okay, #1 & 2 where fixed today for the most part when I had to get some new tires on the front. First problem was they were 255/45/17 on the front of Z06 rims. And now I have 275/40/17's on there. The bad alignment that was on the car before I got it. Now with a fresh alignment, and new tires that are the right size, it is a much better ride. Now I just need to replace the front rotors and discs and we will be in a whole new world of driving in this beautiful car.

Thanks for your help with the Depo headlights, and the shifter and ****.

I thought front tires were 245/45R17. You went with a tire that goes on all 4 on a SS camaro. I, myself, am running 235/45r17's in the front of my Vette

I have the Z06 rims on mine, so the fronts are 17x9.5, and 18x10.5 in the back. The stock front tire for the z06 was a 265/40/17. So a 275 isn't to much bigger. And I have 295/35/18's on the back, but know that 315/30/18 will fit no problem. But, it was messing with my mind to have 275's on the front. I had 245/50/16 on my Camaro Z/28, and 245/75/16 on my 2500HD. So this is a little out of place. However, I'm really glad that I have a fixed Vette that goes down the road straight, and fast.

What is the advantage of the Kirban, I am not familiar with them?

Congrats on the new C5. You can get a set of stock size rotors cheap from your local Napa store. I also wanted to let you know that I have a B&M Shifter from my C5 if you are still looking for a shifter. Still have the box. Also have some Z51 springs and a Z06 front swaybar for sale. Let me know as I haven't put these up for sale on the forums yet. $95 for the B&M.

i loved mine. to me it felt a good bit notchier and engaging than the ripper. took a lot more muscle to move it, then it just snaps into place. i love that feeling, NEVER missed a gear because of it.
the arm is a tad high though, so if you put a ball or a c6 **** on it, i think it will sit high. thats why i got that delrin ****, because 3/4 of the length is threaded inside so it sits a good 1-2" lower than a ball.
