Default My new Vette

I posted up a while back about looking for a vette, and had narrowed it down based on input here and my own research between a C5Z and an LS3 C6. Been looking for several months now and went and drove both of them, and even one of the new Camaros just for grins. Impressions:

C6: Nice fit and finish to everything, especially the interior. Very smooth ride, especially over surfaces that would have made me cringe in my F-body. Didn't really like the push button start but other than that I liked everything else about the car, and of course it definately had some get up and go...even with a 300 pound salesman in the passenger seat.

C5Z: Not quite as smooth of a ride as the C6 but the handling was just as good. The interior did seem very F-body like, but the seats were significantly more comfortable. Had a more "raw" feel about it, especially during acceleration. Always loved the FRC body style.

2010 Camaro: I honestly was not thrilled by the new camaro, the interior was very nice, and the engine bay looked to have significantly more room to work than either vette or my camaro. It was a very smooth ride, and had some pickup to it, but the clutch travel felt a mile long compared to everything else, and that back window is tiny. Plus I get the retro thing but I didn't like having to look down at the console to check the guages. I also wasn't crazy about the fact anything short of a cat-back and an airbox voids your 3yr/36,000 mile warranty.

Well I went and put the down payment on my 03 C5Z this morning. Its yellow, with 13,891 miles on it (still smells new and has factory protective film over the radio screen), and with the exception of the tint and 3M clear bra its bone stock....still has skip shift . It needs lowered and the Side moldings gone ASAP... which I will begin working on when I take possesion tomorrow. It was a tough call, but with the low miles (lower than any C6 I was considering), and the price (once again much lower than any C6 I was considering) I couldn't pass it up. I'll post pics tomorrow but honestly you can google a stock millenium yellow C5Z.

Great choice, you can't go wrong with C5 Z, incredible performance values for the dollar. 5th gens are nice daily drivers, they've grown on me, but can't say I would buy one over a Vette. I already have a truck to daily drive.

Yea I could see how an automatic 5th gen would make a nice DD. It was rather roomy and had all sorts of creature comforts but it really wasn't what I was looking for in a car, I have a DD truck.
