Whistler mod WTH??
Where did it come from? How did it get its name? I was picturing a car that squeeled from some hole or whatever drilled in the lights?? Something like those dumbass deer whistles that were put on cars back in the day. Ive never heard of this before

A guy named Chris "Whistler" did the mod first (he's here on tech, too - Whistler). My good friend knows him and the story....
Anyway, he wanted to open up and headlight and try painting them black. Well, it worked and it's been named after him.
The "whistler mod" is when you bake the headlights open, and paint the surround of the headlight black. you also paint the very bottom of the lens (so you can't see it when you looks down)..You then glue/RTV it closed and viola! You've got the whitlser mod.
If you look in the appearance section then in the hall of fame you can see a great write up on how to do it.

Its still a cool trick, I had the luxury of swapping in black zo6 buckets from a black c6. I can see how this mod would work well on an f-body. If I didnt have true HID I may consider doing it to my Camaro.
