Didn't know that, thanks man! Actually I think what was $60 was the LS6 setup - the xover tube and the 2 blockoffs at the back....it was a while back so I was trying to remember.

And I think with the LS6 style xover setup you don't need gaskets because they already have o-rings.

Dorman Part # 56390 and Advance Auto carries them for $6.99, usually nobody has them in stock but can be ordered overnight.

Angry Dammit

Well, drove the car on the Beltway for about half an hour, and it crept up between the 225 mark and the red. NOT GOOD.

I have no idea why other cars with more horsepower than mine run 180-190 on the highway with the same cooling system that I have. I doubt the head gaskets are on upside down. They were done by a decent shop not too long ago. The heads are stock 853 heads so I'm sure the holes line up with the block. Both fans are coming on. All the airdam pieces are on. I have a 160 tstat and the fans are tuned to come on a little earlier. The radiator is new. The water pump is new. There are no leaks.

Most people have issues at idle but not at speed. Mine is the complete opposite. What am I overlooking?

Nah, I've been helping with the car. The little plastic snaps that secure the bottom of the bumper were missing, which seemed to block a significant amount of area for air to flow across the radiator. It's been known to make a difference in some cases, but I guess it's not the case here.

Back to the drawing board, lol.

I would make sure the Thermo is working. I would also make sure you dont have an air bubble trapped in the block (that could cause this problem). I would flush the system and start over making sure the right amount of fluid is added. Also check your overflow tank (hoses are hooked up no cracks ect...)

No, no air in the cooling system. Fluid level is right where it's supposed to be. No leaks. At idle the temps are perfect.

I put the thermostat in a pot of hot water, opens up just fine.
