I wouldn't have stopped. Ya I'm sure the cop respects the fact that you did, but 9 out of 10 times you're going to get nailed with an outrageous ticket. It might be the right thing to do, but it's also the dumb thing to do.

Do they still search your vehicle? I would figure if there was a firearm involved they would take their sweet time searching, call for backup, run the numbers on the gun, etc.
if its just a traffic stop and they jsut ask, then no, its just a normal deal. If they ask to search it and you say sure but theres a gun, then they take the gun out first, unload it and put it on the hood and go on about the search. when theyre done they give the gun back, along with clip and the round that was in teh chamber. Then they aks you to please wait to reload it till after you drive away LOL.
been through it 2 or 3 times now, they always forget to pull the round out of the chamber and i have to tell them the gun is still loaded, dumbshits. one cop said that wasent safe, i told him to pull out his own gun put it to his head and pull the trigger, he gave me a funny look to which i said "so yours isnt safe either"
