Fuel Issue..techs help

Fuel Issue..techs help Very close to being done with my LS1 build and i have a fuel issue.
I have a 2001 SS...took the motor out to do Pistons, Heads, Cam, Intake...basicly the norm...anyways i have the car very close to done now and tried to start it tonight and ive narrowed it down to a fuel issue.
Ok the motor turns over great (new Battery) but hasnt fired off yet. I put about 5 gals of gas back in the car about 2 weeks ago because the car has sat for about 8 months and the old gas pretty much evaporated. I have all the grounds, wires, and fuel lines hooked back up but no luck on the enigine starting. Although, i havent put a fuel pressure gauge on it yet ive noticed i can hear my Fuel pump turn on with the key but when i check the fuel check valve I get nothing.? So i checked the line right after the fuel filter and fuel goes everywhere so i know im getting fuel that far. Im so lost???
