Default Trying to hunt down an old car!

Long story short I sold my camaro a few years back to a friend, well he wrecked it a week later and it hasn't been seen since. I am trying to track it down and get it back. I have the vin # if anyone has a contact who can help me.

I know it sounds sort of stalkerish, I would just like to at least try and find out what happened to it.

FWIW, I have tried, the DMV, DPS, county office, multiple local police stations..all are un-willing to help, but say the next person can, they basically point me in a circle to each other.

If you can help me, PM me and I will give you the vin #.

carfax won't give you the owners name or an approximate location...Check PublicData FYI, you will have to register and pay for the service.

public data is cheaper than carfax...9.95 for one month and 400 searches....and it will give more detailed information...

Anyone in sales at a dealership can run a VIN and find the registered owner...and who the leinholder is.

TxDOT QuickVTR has a free 14 day trial with up to 25 searches. It may be for dealerships only though but it's worth a look.

Why would you want a wrecked car back? A salvage yard probably bought it and parted it out by now.

Thanks for the input. Come to find out teh car is still registered in the name of the kid I sold it to 4 years ago. That tells me 1) the car has been salvaged and is probably a shell by now or 2) it was sold to an out of state customer.

It was wrecked, but very fixable. I contacted the dealership he traded it in to, and he was willing to help me out and find out what he did for me via their data base.
