Dynoed the 2001 silverado
Now, tuned, it did 292 RWHP and 312 RWTQ, it has a K&N drop in and 4 inch exhaust from the stock Y merge back. I still have not done the coolant bypass and what not.
I think through a 4L80 trans, big *** 2 piece drive shaft, 8.5 rear and 265/75/16 tires, it was pretty decent.

I will do the coolant bypass since i have the **** to do it, i hear the descreened MAF is just not worth anything and can actually hurt it.
LQ4 took a ****, a junk yard LQ4 with a LS6 cam and ported heads would be the replacement.
Yes, headers in the long run will be in there and i think 300 RWHP would be a done deal.

if your truck is a 1/2 ton and has a stock rear end it is an 8.5 (8.6 really)
it doesnt have to be a "race truck" to have headers and a cam, my truck has full bolt ons, cam, heads, and a 3600 converter and i drive it everyday....and still get over 20mpg on the highway, 18-19mpg average

If i did a cam, it would be a LS6. Otherwise, headers and bolt ons are a must.

18 mpg doesnt sound to far off with a tune either. my 02 2500hd will get 16.7 on the road doing 65,and it is BONE STOCK minus the 265s
so with a good tune and right driver 18mpg is very achievable.
congrats
